*Disclaimer: I'm an atheist and am just stating my beliefs on religion. This blog is focused on the Christian/Catholic religions.
First of all, I used to believe in Christianity when I was little, mainly due to the fact that my parents would make me go to church. But as I got older, my views grew different than those of my parents. I know so many people that use god in ways that would piss me off if I did believe in him. My grandma says the stupidest things. Things like “See that’s why god doesn’t give you *insert material thing here”. I thought that god wanted you to be happy and devoted to him, not pray to him so that you can get money to buy an 100 inch plasma and then forget about him! To me, people believe in religions for many reasons. For most, religion fills in the need to have to something to believe in. Others use it to their advantage to make people think better of them. People in jail are converted to many religions because it passes time and then they get brainwashed and start believing the preacher. My cousin was never a devout Christian but in jail he was the biggest believer you could find. Once he got out of jail, his devoutness to god stopped and he was back to his old ways. People who believe in Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism are as crazy as the people back in Egypt who believed in all of those different gods. Religion was created to explain things that couldn’t be explained without making a very creative story that people ended up believing because it gave a reason for why supernatural things happened. Christianity is supposed to teach people to be good and kind hearted but the popes of history have abused their power to the max. We now have scientific proof to back up why things happen and not just some crazy story someone created. It is time to let go of all of this bullshit and instead just practice being good and kind hearted on our own. We don’t need to fear some imaginary man to get the motivation to do good things. Or maybe “you” do…
- Evolution: If the bible says that god created the earth and then the animals, then why isn’t there any mention of dinosaurs or Saber-toothed tigers in it? Science really contradicts the bible’s facts about humans being created shortly after the animals since they have found animals that were way older than any human remains that have ever been found. God just knew that putting a heart, lungs, blood system, vein system, anus, liver, brain, eyes, throat, intestines, arms, legs, head, feet and all of the rest of the things that our body consists of would work together and just work. And to top it off he gave us a soul to take care of or else it will suffer eternal damnation in hell.
- Solar System: God created the earth and then said “let there be light”, which I’m guessing is the sun. Well that means that the earth and sun are only a few days apart. If god created the stars at the same time then why do they have very different ages? Also, we have sent so many things into space and keep missing a glimpse of heaven before entering into space.
- Society: Going to church makes your reputation as a good person go up. Even if you sat in the very back row and never paid attention. You do not have to sit in a place that was built on your donations and that has pastors raping little boys to let god know you believe in him. With his almighty powers he can tell that you “have him in your heart”. People go to church, get “enlighten”, then 20 minutes after getting home get mad at something and sin more than I do in a week.
- Abuse: There are so many ways that has abused. He is the most abused person to ever live. Give him something for his depression that everyone has caused him to get into. First of all the bible has been changed (“translated”) so many ways and into so many branches of Christianity. Would you really believe a book that has many versions fit to resemble the unique thoughts of some asshole that decided to change what it said since people didn’t read LATIN. Popes in the middle ages are infamous for abusing there power. Catholic pastors rape little boys because their beliefs say that they can’t be attracted to what is natural (females). Even though right across the street, the Christian pastor has more sex with his wife then you do.
